The behavior of liberals, celebrities and anti-Donald Trump activists in recent weeks has led a small business owner in Oregon to send a strong message challenging them — which in turn has led to some digital hate from the other side of the continent.
Kevin Kerwin, proprietor of Kevin the Geek Computer Repair in Lake Oswego, recently posted a sign in his store window telling CNN, ignorant liberals and Bruce Springsteen in particular that “(w)e’ve had it with you idiots,” according to a Fox News opinion piece by Todd Starnes.
“Oregon is a very beautiful state, but it’s infested with liberals,” Kerwin told Starnes, adding that he was frustrated by the actions of militant liberals who tried to burn down Portland after the 2016 presidential election.
“To all the ignorant liberals, including Bruce Springsteen … The four people who kidnapped & tortured a disabled teenager just because he supports Donald Trump — Just shows everyone you are a party of complete morons. I’m embarrassed to call you Americans. Go straight to Hell where you belong. We’ve had it with you idiots,” the sign read.
The small business owner was particularly disappointed when Bruce Springsteen, one of Kerwin’s favorite singers, slammed Trump supporters as being un-American.
“When you let that genie out of the bottle — bigotry, racism, intolerance — they don’t go back into the bottle that easily, if they go back in at all,” Springsteen said about Trump on the “WTF” podcast. “Whether it’s a rise in hate crimes, people feeling they have license to speak and behave in ways that previously were considered un-American and are un-American. That’s what he’s (Trump) appealing to.”
Springsteen’s comments were enough to make Kerwin mad, but he decided he’d had enough of the liberal insanity after the recent kidnapping and torture of a mentally challenged white man by four black suspects that was broadcast on Facebook Live.
“When that kidnapping happened — that was one of the last straws,” he said.
Another sign in the window also slammed CNN, calling it the “Comedy News Network, Fake News all the Time, Propaganda for Liberals.”
Kerwin told Starnes there had been some backlash from liberals in his community, and some angry liberals on the other side of the country even chimed in on the sign. Some also reviewed Kerwin’s business in general.
Some of the reviews were unlikely to be legitimate, however, judging by the location of the person reviewing the business, as many of them were from far-away places, including clear across the country.
For example, John W. from Virginia Beach, Virginia, noted on Yelp that he would “never go back again” to Kerwin’s repair shop because Kerwin was “weird” and had “stupid political signs.”
Oh really, John? Or is the real reason you won’t be visiting Kerwin’s business because it would take you more than 40 hours to drive there?
“This shop doesn’t deserve any of our stupid liberal money,” another Yelp user commented, although his profile stated he was from Indiana, so it wasn’t immediately clear why he would be getting his computer fixed in Oregon anyway.
Another user by the name of Rayna — whose Yelp profile indicated she was from Memphis, Tennessee — commented that she was “shocked” that anyone could still support a business like this one.
Well, Rayna, the good news for you is that there are likely thousands of computer repair shops in the 2,300 miles between Memphis and Lake Oswego. So you don’t have to support Kerwin’s business if you don’t want to.
Besides, the store owner was not exactly concerned about the liberal boycott of his business, as the conservative patrons in the area were happy to bring him their computer needs.
“They’ve (liberals) all boycotted my store, (but) I don’t care what they think,” he said. “I’ve got a lot of great conservatives here and they support my shop.”
