Singer Madonna thinks she knows why Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton lost the presidential election, and she couldn’t be further from the truth.
In an interview with Billboard magazine, the superstar said the reason President-elect Donald Trump won the election was because of how women feel about other women.
“Women hate women. That’s what I think it is. Women’s nature is not to support other women,” she said. “A lot of it has do with jealousy and some sort of tribal inability to accept that one of their kind could lead a nation.”
The singer said that she felt betrayed by women, Newsweek reported. She added that she’d lost plenty of sleep since Trump’s win and concluded that the country was “f***ed.”
Madonna, like so many other celebrities, just doesn’t get it.
It’s amusing how the star chose to ignore all of the legitimate reasons why thinking women knew better than to vote for Clinton. None of Clinton’s scandals should have been overlooked because she was a woman. More importantly, Clinton did not deserve to win simply because she was a woman.
Once again, we have a celebrity missing the mark on the election. Madonna apparently lives in a liberal bubble, and while she has the right to do so, she would be wise keep her political opinions to herself, as most Americans are growing weary of arrogant celebrities telling them how to think.
Smart women understood that the election was never about gender — it was about the direction in which this nation was headed. There is no doubt that Clinton would have driven this country farther into ruin, and women and men alike voted to prevent that from happening.
