Attorney General Loretta Lynch said Friday that Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta doesn’t fully know what he is talking about after Podesta published a rant in the Washington Post attacking the FBI over the issue of Russian hacking in the presidential election.
“Comparing the FBI’s massive response to the overblown email scandal with the seemingly lackadaisical response to the very real Russian plot to subvert a national election shows that something is deeply broken at the FBI,” wrote Podesta, comparing the FBI’s actions on Clinton’s use of a private email server as secretary of state with allegations of Russian hacking.
Prior to the election, Podesta’s emails were leaked by WikiLeaks. WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has said the Russian government was not the source of the documents leaked.
Lynch said Friday the FBI took reports that Russians were hacking into various political accounts “very seriously,” regardless of how Podesta may feel.

“He’s not involved in the ongoing investigation so he wouldn’t be privy to everything that would have been done or said to that. But as I said, he’s entitled to his opinion,” Lynch said. “I can tell you that this investigation was taken seriously from the beginning.”
Lynch said Podesta’s views are not unbiased.

“I know also because of his involvement with the campaign, he’s going to have a certain interest in this and a certain view of that,” she said. “Everyone has a great deal of respect for him. So I allow him that opinion, but I disagree with that.”
She would not compare the extent to which the FBI investigated Clinton’s emails and its probe into Russian hacking, noting that just because the election is over does not mean the FBI probe is as well.
“First of all, the investigation isn’t even over. So I think it’s impossible to characterize it in any one way or the other,” she said. “Again, I don’t know where Mr. Podesta is obtaining information.”
And people wonder why Comey feels free to ignore his “superiors” across the street at the Justice Department.https://t.co/sjgJ9cN0O6
