In a move that will likely make Barack Obama livid, President-elect Donald Trump has invited Benjamin Netanyahu to the Presidential Inauguration on Jan. 20.
After Obama stabbed the Jewish nation in the back, having the prime minister of Israel attend Trump’s swearing-in ceremony will be a statement that the new president will be a true friend of Israel and defend them against their local enemies, like Iran, Syria and Hamas.
The New York Post is reporting that there are plans for the prime minister to attend the inauguration or at least have a meeting right before the swearing in ceremony.
Transition leaders led by Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner have been aggressively courting Netanyahu and want him to attend the Jan. 20 festivities, the source said.
“There’s a plan for Trump to meet with Netanyahu,” the source said. “They’re talking all the time. And Netanyahu is talking about possibly going to the inauguration.”
Netanyahu congratulated Trump on his victory a day after the presidential election, and Trump had invited the Israeli leader to meet in the US at his “first opportunity.”
Donald Trump is actively trying to repair the damaged (destroyed?) relationship between the two democracies after the reprehensible UN resolution that condemned Israel for their settlement building. The vote was 14-0 with an abstention from the United States.
It’s clear now that the United States was behind the unanimous vote.
The Israeli government claimed they had “ironclad” evidence showing that the U.S. was behind the unanimous resolution decrying the settlements as “illegal.” CNN reports:
Israel will provide detailed, sensitive information to Donald Trump’s incoming administration about the US role as a covert partner in the UN Security Council resolution condemning Israel’s settlements in the West Bank, a senior Israeli official told CNN Tuesday.
The official said it is becoming increasingly clear, based on Arab sources, that the administration was a covert partner in every detail of its formulation, together with the Palestinians.
Israeli officials claim that the United States tried to conceal its involvement in the resolution by having Palestinian official Saeb Erekat demand that Egypt submit the resolution as a representative of the Arab League. This would provide “plausible deniability” for the U.S.
Even as Egypt decided to withdraw the resolution, the Obama Administration pressured other Security Council members to approve it. It was finally introduced by four other countries.
