Brian Thomas reports Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean recently defended the protesters at Berkeley, saying protesters will soon “run America.”
Violence broke out at UC Berkeley in response to a planned speech by conservative journalist Milo Yiannapoulos. President Trump tweeted:
Professional anarchists, thugs and paid protesters are proving the point of the millions of people who voted to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 3, 2017
Dean responded by tweeting:
“These are the generation that will soon run America. They are not thugs and they oppose hate. They are our children. Get used to it.”
They are not thugs, they oppose hate, and they also start fires, smash windows, and destroy property.
The crowd became so unruly that the event was canceled and Yiannopoulos was escorted off campus, yet Dean believes it’s a shame when a president condemns their actions, as both Trump and the university did.
According to Dean, these teenage punks are worthy of our admiration and, apparently, our vote. Unless, that is, Dean thinks they really will overthrow the U.S. government.
