Leaked audio from a February fundraiser recorded Hillary Clinton describing supporters of her top primary rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders, as “living in their parents’ basement” and saying that they found “political revolution” appealing because many are stuck in low-wage jobs.

Clinton made the comments at a closed-door fundraiser in Virginia while she and Sanders were still battling for the Democratic presidential nomination, the Washington Free Beacon originally reported.

“There’s just a deep desire to believe that we can have free college, free health care– that what we’ve done hasn’t gone far enough, and we just need to go as far as Scandinavia– whatever that means,” Clinton said at the time.

“They’re the children of the Great Recession and they are living in their parents’ basement… If you’re feeling that you’re consigned to, you know, being a barista or some other job that doesn’t pay a lot and doesn’t have much of a ladder of opportunity attached to it, then the idea that… you could be part of a political revolution is pretty appealing,” she continued.

However, Clinton made the remarks in the context of appreciating their frustrations and hoping that the Millennial generation would instead think in more idealistic than negative terms.

Saturday on The Cost of Freedom, Neil Cavuto asked Sanders supporter and Democratic strategist Nomiki Konst what she thought of the leaked remarks.

“It’s a primary,” Konst said, “I think that she’s not a skilled politician and she’s not a Millennial. A lot of the elders haven’t been able to grasp what’s going on [with the younger generation].”

Cavuto compared the remarks to those made in 2012 by then-Republican nominee Mitt Romney, who referred to the “47 percent” of Americans who pay little or no income taxes.

Konst disagreed with the comparison, adding that “the majority of those who are making [Clinton’s remarks] a big deal are Donald Trump supporters.”

“It’s not a big deal,” she said.

Hackers first obtained the audio from a campaign staffer’s email account, the Free Beacon reported.
