Kim Jong Uns Latest Testing Closest North Korea Has Been to Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles

While Secretary of State Rex Tillerson recently made the rounds in Asia announcing the end of the era of “strategic patience” with North Korea and making it clear that “all options” were on the table with respect to confronting the rogue communist regime, North Korea upped the ante by performing yet another important threshold-clearing test of its missile program.

The New York Times reported that North Korea’s recent test of an improved rocket engine showed the regime had made “meaningful progress” in the eventual development of a nuclear-tipped intercontinental ballistic missile that could conceivably strike the mainland of the United States.

Dictator Kim Jong Un gleefully announced the successful ground test of a new rocket engine to be “a new birth” of his regime’s missile program and “a great event of historic significance.”

Experts and analysts remained divided as to whether the new rocket engine would be used to launch satellites into space, as Kim claimed, or to carry nuclear warheads in a devastating attack on America or an American ally in the region, both of which have been expressly prohibited by the United Nations Security Council.

“This was a comprehensive test for the first-stage rocket for an ICBM, and that is why it was dangerous,” warned Kim Dong-yub, an analyst at South Korea’s Institute for Far Eastern Studies, according to Reuters. “It appears that North Korea has worked out much of its development of the first-stage rocket booster.”

This is but the latest in a series of provocative back-and-forth actions between North Korea and the U.S., which has included multiple test launches by the communist regime while the U.S. has conducted war games and increased missile defenses in the region.

President Donald Trump has made it clear that he won’t be tolerating any shenanigans from the North Koreans, as prior administrations have done, and is no doubt leaning heavily on the Chinese government to rein in its erratic proxy state, which it certainly has the ability to do in an instant, as the regime relies on China for its very existence.

It remained to be seen whether there would be any publicized response by the Trump administration.
