Liberals and the media were recently outraged over a photograph of White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway sitting with her knees on a couch in the Oval Office.
However, Louisiana Rep. Cedric Richmond, a Democrat, took that rage a little farther and crudely suggested that Conway was “familiar” with being on her knees.
Conway said she believed people would have been more upset about the disgusting sexist jest if she had been a pro-abortion woman instead of outspokenly pro-life.
Richmond made the sexist comments at a Washington Press Club Foundation dinner, saying he “really want(ed) to know what was going on there” and mentioning the 1990s — an apparent reference to the Clinton sex scandal.
“And you can just explain to me that circumstance, because she really looked kind of familiar in that position there. But, don’t answer, and I don’t want you to refer back to the 1990s,” he said, later referring to the statement as a “joke.”
The Democrat representative later tried to clarify that his comments meant that Conway looked “too comfortable” in the Oval Office, not that she was necessarily familiar with being on her knees in the White House.
“Since some people have interpreted my joke to mean something that it didn’t, I think it is important to clarify what I meant. Last night was a night of levity. Where I grew up saying that someone is looking or acting ‘familiar’ simply means that they are behaving too comfortably,” he told The Daily Caller.
Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel pointed out that comments like Richmond’s were exactly the kind of demeaning comments that many women have been subjected to on a daily basis, according to Business Insider.

“You may think this is funny, but it’s not. It’s disgusting & offensive,” she tweeted to the congressman.
The sad truth is that Conway was right: Had the roles been reversed and a conservative lawmaker implied or joked that a pro-choice, liberal woman was “familiar” with being in a sexual position, liberals would be calling for the conservative to resign and attacking him with a never-ending onslaught of sexism charges.
But isn’t that the mantra of the “tolerant” left? “If you insult us, it’s because you are a sexist, racist, homophobic pig. But, on the other hand, if we insult you, it’s all in good fun.”
Hypocrisy just doesn’t seem like a strong enough word to describe this.
