Hollywood liberals frequently preach about the need for love, tolerance, kindness and compassion, but their words rarely match their actions. Thankfully for Walmart shopper Sydney Gholston, actor Jon Voight was a die-hard conservative.
And he was also a Walmart shopper — one who just happened to be behind Gholston in the checkout line at a Kentucky Walmart last Friday.
“I was helping the lady scan the turkeys and the man behind me said, ‘You must have a big family. That’s an awful lot of turkeys,’” she later recalled to ABC News. I said, ‘I work at the Home of the Innocents.’”
By Home of the Innocents, she meant an organization that provides “residential and community-based services to children who have been abused, abandoned or neglected,” according to the organization’s website.
She was essentially a humanitarian, and luckily for her conservative Jon Voight was one as well — so much so, in fact, that he offered to buy her the six turkeys she was trying to purchase for a Thanksgiving celebration at her local Home of the Innocents chapter in Louisville, where she works as the director of food and nutritional services.
“I thanked him and and we took a picture,” she added. “Very nice guy. He was very interested in what we did at the home. He said that was wonderful.”
Here’s the picture, as shared in a Facebook post by the organization’s Louisville chapter:
“Jon generously paid for the turkeys to feed our kids next week!” the organization wrote. “We are so thankful for his generosity!”
Like most conservatives, Voight is not a hateful racist, sexist, homophobe, xenophobe or Islamophobe who only cared about his own selfish concerns. He’s a nice guy with a big heart.
Many liberals, particularly the hateful ones spending their holidays penning bitter screeds about President-elect Donald Trump and his supporters, could learn a thing or two from him.
