Joe Biden Says Hillary Clinton Ran for President Because She Had “No Choice”

Success models often say that you can’t achieve the what, or even the how, until you know the why. Every goal needs a purpose greater than the goal itself.

It appears the Democrats are beginning to get some hindsight in that respect.

After a scorching election defeat for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and plenty of Monday morning quarterbacking, vice president Joe Biden is coming clean. Biden told the Los Angeles Times last week what he couldn’t say while he was campaigning for Hillary.

She didn’t have a burning ambition to be president and lead the country, and his gut told him it would cost her the election.

“I don’t think she ever really figured it out,” Biden said. “She thought she had no choice but to run. That, as the first woman who had an opportunity to win the presidency, I think it was a real burden on her.”

Hmm. “No choice” is not a reason to be the leader of the free world, even for so good a cause as gender equality. We need more than role models; we need bold and brave leaders.

When Clinton announced her candidacy in April 2015, she promised to be a champion of middle-class Americans, reported The Guardian. Now, Biden admits that she and the Democrats were totally out of touch with working class America.

The Democrats have no one but themselves to blame. Even as she announced her candidacy, she came into the race less well-liked than when she left office two years earlier, according to The Washington Post.

And yet, the Democrats put forward no serious challenger. Those who called now-president-elect Donald Trump supporters “lazy” and “deplorables” were in fact playing working class voters for fools.

Biden makes it clear that he had to hold his tongue about his party not reaching the people who previously supported it. “I was trying to be as tactful as I could in making it clear that I thought we constantly made a mistake of not speaking to the fears, aspirations, concerns of middle class people,” he said.

All of which, in hindsight, was a really bad decision. See you in four years, Dems. Maybe you can up your game.

We’re sorry, Joe. Your candidate failed, and your party is to blame.
