Injured Chick-fil-A Worker Shows Up For Shift, Hopes To Raise Money For Homeless

There are a lot of good people in this world, and the holiday season tends to bring them out. This is the time of year where people often do incredibly compassionate things for each other.

This Chick-fil-A worker is one of those people. A photo of the worker went viral recently after a customer walked into a Chick-fil-A store in Avon, Indiana, and noticed a worker with a neck brace on and an arm in a sling, WXIN reported.

The worker, Jakeem Tyler, explained that he had been in a car crash, but he decided to come into work because he needed the money to help the homeless.

“He did not want to let his team down by just calling in and not showing up but he also wanted to use the money for Christmas presents and to be able to feed the homeless with it as well,” wrote Cameron Nelson on his Facebook page.

Nelson was so moved by the teen’s selfless actions that he created a GoFundMe page to help Tyler’s goal of donating to the homeless, Fox News reported.

As of Saturday afternoon, the page had raised over $40,000. The page’s original goal was $2,500.

WISH noted that Tyler was overwhelmed at the outpouring of generosity and how quickly his story went viral.

“I just don’t know what to really say right now because I’m just in awe still,” he stated. “This was just like some days ago now it’s been blowing up.”

This is the season to be thankful for what we have, and to give to those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Tyler certainly seems to understand that.

The world needs more people like Tyler — people who won’t let anything stop them from helping out other people.
