On Monday, President-elect Donald Trump announced that Dr. Ben Carson would be his nominee for secretary of Housing and Urban Development, and it didn’t take long for the liberals to start crying foul.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi issued a blistering statement where she called Carson a “disturbingly unqualified choice” and attacked him further by stating that he didn’t have any “credentials” to be in charge of HUD.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee quickly rushed to Carson’s defense, tweeting that Carson actually has experience in the inner cities — something some stuffy ivy league-educated politician would never have — and question Pelosi’s motives in attacking Carson.
“Ben Carson is first HUD Sec to have actually lived in gov’t housing. Fancy Nancy Pelosi says he’s not qualified; is she racist or just dumb?” he wrote on Twitter.

It was incredibly hypocritical of Pelosi to attack Carson, an African-American, even though she has a history of implying that people who have questioned President Barack Obama were just a bunch of racists.
Despite the hypocritical Democrats throwing a tantrum, Politico noted that Carson seemed guaranteed to be approved by the Senate because he was almost universally loved in Republican circles.

“The American people had no concern electing President Trump without experience in government. Maybe what we’ll get out of this is a new set of eyes looking at old processes,” said South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, who is also an African-American.
The Washington Post noted that Carson, who has opposed extensive government safety nets, is about to run the largest safety-net agency in the country — which is just what the American people want.
Trump was elected to “drain the swamp” and to bring in new people with new ideas. Carson grew up in the inner city, so he knows just how horrible it is, and that’s why he will be able to do great things as secretary of HUD.
This was a change election, and Carson represents that change — as well as hope that things will get better over the next four years.
