Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton likely thought the week could only go up from the early hours of Wednesday morning. Unfortunately, the FBI had something to say about that.
To that end, all 10 agents designated for public corruption cases at the Little Rock FBI office were focusing on the Foundation full-time. Arkansas is still the Clintons’ home state, just in case you’d forgotten since Hillary carpetbagged her way to a New York Senate seat.
In fact, the Clinton Foundation was founded there back in 1997, ostensibly for the sole purpose of erecting the Bill Clinton Presidential Museum. Almost 20 years on, it now functions in much the same manner that the suitcase full of ransom money functioned for Jim Carrey and Jeff Bridges in “Dumb and Dumber.”
Former U.S. Attorney Joseph DiGenova said “there is a mountain of credible evidence that the foundation was being improperly run, had not filed appropriate filings with the IRS and state agencies. It’s clearly involved in a bribery conspiracy scandal with the Department of State.”
“I don’t think there’s any doubt it should be shut down,” he added.
Matthew Whitaker, the director of The Foundation for Accountability & Civic Trust and another former U.S. Attorney, said he believed that Clinton’s actions at State Department as they pertain to the Clinton Foundation deserved close scrutiny.
“I think we need to be concerned that between 2009 to 2013, it appears the Clinton Foundation donors were given special access to the State Department. Somebody needs to look at every transaction and see if it was used for an improper purpose and potentially illegal unethical purposes,” Whitaker said.
“They obviously need to get their house in order, to be more transparent about where the money is coming from, where the money’s going, and not try to play shenanigans with their reporting to agencies,” he added.
And it wasn’t just the FBI. Rep. Marsha Blackburn, a Tennessee Republican who is vice chair of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, said she expects Congress to take up the Clinton Foundation.
“I think you’re going to see judiciary and government reform committees do their work on it,” said Blackburn, who has conducted hearings on the Foundation. “The foundation should be given an opportunity to either to come into compliance with the law or shut their doors.”
As it turns out, Tuesday might have been the best news that Hillary Clinton is going to get. Her own personal hell could just be beginning.
