Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has maintained a relatively low profile since her humiliating loss to President Donald Trump in the November presidential election, but now she is slowly creeping back into the spotlight.
Clinton was the closing speaker for an event hosted by the Professional BusinessWomen of California, where she had just four words for what Democrats should do about Trump, KQED reported.
“Resist. Insist. Persist. Enlist,” she told the audience.
It looks like Clinton is trying to position herself as a key figure in the “resistance” to Trump’s presidency, though her ultimate goal is unclear.
CNN noted that Clinton waded further back into political waters by attacking the Republican alternative to Obamacare that failed even to be voted on in the House last week, calling its failure a “victory for all Americans.”
“Sooner or later, they’ll try again. We will have to fight back twice as hard. Not for the sake of politics, but because these are bad policies that will hurt people and take our country in the wrong direction,” she stated.
I’m pretty sure if the American people actually cared about what Clinton thought the U.S. health care policy should be, they would have elected her instead of Trump.
This speech by Clinton is seen by some as her first steps toward rejoining the political circle — possibly to try to drum up support for a 2020 run for the presidency, Politico speculated.
While there will always be people who support Clinton, by and large Democrats have agreed that it is time to move on and find someone new to lead the party.
The only problem with that is that they don’t really have anyone to lead the party, and so far Clinton hasn’t indicated that she is willing to give up leading the Democrats quite yet.
We’re perfectly happy with that idea. Let’s sit back and watch the Democrat Party continue to implode.
