Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has one more humiliating fact to face about her failed presidential campaign — how much it cost.
According to the New York Post, Clinton spent an astonishing record $1.2 billion for her presidential campaign. To add salt to the wound, Trump only spent about $600 million.
Clinton blew through $131.8 million in the final weeks of her campaign, finishing with about $839,000 on hand as of Nov. 28. Compare that to Trump, who $94.5 million in the last weeks of his campaign, and was left with $7.6 million after the election.
Those numbers include all spending by each campaign, including PACs and party committees.
As Politico pointed out, while Clinton raised more than Trump, it simply didn’t matter. In fact, the deficit was just another one of the many odds Trump manage to beat.
The Washington Free Beacon reported that in 2012, President Barack Obama spent over $700 million while all efforts to help him win the election cost about $1.14 billion. Mitt Romney spent around $450 million with all efforts to get him into the White House totalling about $1.25 billion.
Clinton should be more than embarrassed by the amount of money she wasted during her campaign.
Democrats have long complained about the kind of influence big money donors have on our politicians, but there Clinton was, benefiting from Wall Street, special interest groups and her own so-called charitable organization.
Democrats still want to blame an uneducated voter base for Clinton’s failure, yet they spent millions to get their message out. One wonders if they will ever learn that why Clinton lost was not a financial problem — it was a problem with the candidate, and no amount of money was going improve her chances of winning.
