Conservative columnist George Will appeared on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report” on Monday and stepped away from his disdain for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump long enough to agree with him on one issue that should concern every voter.
Will, who left the Republican Party because of Trump’s nomination, said Trump should continue hammering on this point, but with more clarity. He said that when Trump made such claims, he swept all his grievances “into one big puddle” that included the media, manipulated polls and the Republican National Committee.
Will argued that Trump should be clear when speaks about rigged elections. When most people think of election-rigging they think of a big government that is behind it. Trump would do well, he argued, to point a finger at the party that is doing most of the rigging — the Democrats.
“It is hard to think of an innocent reason why Democrats spend so much time, energy, and money, scarce resources, resisting attempts to purge the voter rolls, that is to remove people who are dead or have otherwise left the jurisdiction,” Will said.
He added that it’s equally hard to think of an innocent reason why Democrats fight so hard against voter I.D. laws.
“We know — we don’t surmise. We know that the 2010, ’12, and ’14 elections were rigged by the most intrusive and potentially punitive institution of the federal government, the IRS,” Will continued.
The reality of rigged elections is just sad. Hopefully, this election will play out with a clearly defined and legitimate winner, and one way to make sure that happens is to get out and vote the crooked Democrats out of the presidency and other elected offices.
