Former Nobel Committee Secretary Says Obama’s Nobel Prize Win Was a Failed Experiment

Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, but according to at least one former Nobel committee member, his award was just an experiment to get Obama to keep his campaign promises.

Furthermore, the experiment was a total failure.

The Blaze is reporting:

A regretful Geir Lundestad, onetime secretary of the Nobel committee, told the Associated Press that he hoped the award would strengthen Obama. But it didn’t, according to the group, despite the White House’s belief that the president “lived up to the standard that he has set for himself” regarding the prize.

Instead of being an encouraging sign, the award was met with palpable indignation, particularly among conservatives who believed Obama should have done something rather than spoken something to receive the lofty prize.

“No Nobel Peace Prize ever elicited more attention than the 2009 prize to Barack Obama,” Lundestad, who is working on his memoir, reportedly wrote in the forthcoming book. “Even many of Obama’s supporters believed that the prize was a mistake. In that sense, the committee didn’t achieve what it had hoped for.”

Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize without having done anything to merit such a prestigious award shocked many, including Obama himself, according to Lundestad.

Lundestad confided that Obama almost didn’t even travel to Norway’s capital, Oslo, to accept the award, giving in only when his administration determined he had to go for the sake of his public image.

Action and inaction determined by Obama’s obsession with PR guided stardom and an unyielding determination to maintain his cult-of-personality styled image surely dominated the Obama presidency from the beginning.

Lundestad served as the Director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo and Secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee from 1990 until last year.

Tradition normally asserts that secretaries of influence on the Nobel Committee in voicing his disappointment with a prize winner.  Apparently, Obama’s failure to meet the expectations of his Nobel Prize were so great, something had to be said.

You’re not alone, Mr. Lundestad.  America is full of people disappointed by their president.
