A Serbian woman who was the nanny to Donald Trump’s three oldest children passed away earlier this week at the age of 85.
According to the Daily Mail, Milka Milisavljevic was living in the Serbian capital of Belgrade, where she died following a short illness.
Milisavljevic worked as a baby nurse for a period of several months immediately following the births of Trump’s oldest child, Donald, Jr., in late 1977, and his third child, Eric, in 1984.
She cared for all three of Trump’s children with his first wife, Ivana, in the mid-1980s, when they ranged in age from 1 to 7 years old.
All told, Milisavljevic’s time with the Trump family covered, off-and-on, over an eight-year period.
She originally immigrated to the United States in the late 1970s. Being a nanny to the Trump children was the first job she was offered, she told the Informer in an interview last month.
Concerned for the children’s safety, Milisavljevic would carry a gun with her.
“Milisavljevic said [Trump] was very generous and gave her $100 a day, in addition to $1,000 for her birthday each year,” the Daily Mail reported.
The former nanny reported that Trump liked to speak with his children each night after returning from work.
Ivana Trump wrote a letter of recommendation for Milisavljevic, who returned to her native Serbia 15 years ago.
Ivana recounted that the nanny was “hard-working, responsible, patient and with a genuine love of our children.”
“She is a good disciplinarian and is a firm believer (as we are) of outdoor activities and exercise,” she added.
Milisavljevic’s funeral will be held Christmas Eve in Belgrade.
