Throughout the long, arduous and often hostile presidential campaign, many people were very vocal in their support of their candidate of choice.
Celebrities were certainly no different, and more than a dozen Hollywood “stars” who unabashedly threw their support behind Hillary Clinton did so with such confidence, they threatened to leave the United States if Republican nominee Donald Trump won the election.
The likelihood of a Trump victory had seemed so remote for so long that presumably none of these celebrities figured they would ever have to make good on their declarations.
Well, it’s time to put their money where their mouth is. Trump won, so will those who threatened to become expatriates really start looking up moving companies in their Yellow Pages?
Miley Cyrus, daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus released an emotional video Wednesday in which she said, “…we adjust and we accept, everyone, who they are and so Donald Trump, I accept you… I even accept you as the president of the United States, and that’s fine.”
She didn’t indicate if she was indeed relocating, but she did go on to say, “I want to be hopeful.”
Comedian Amy Schumer, another strong supporter of Clinton, vowed to move to Europe if Trump won the election.
Schumer told BBC in an interview, “My act will change because I will need to learn to speak Spanish, because I will move to Spain or somewhere. It’s beyond my comprehension if Trump won. It’s just too crazy.”
Actress Lena Dunham, creator, writer and star of HBO’s Girls, said she would move to Canada in the event Clinton lost the election to Donald Trump.
She went on to say, “I know a lot of people have been threatening to do this, but I really will. I know a lovely place in Vancouver and I can get my work done from there.”
Stephen King, author of best-selling horror novels, previously commented that a Trump presidency “scares me to death.”
When Trump’s victory was apparent, King posted a tweet saying he was “shutting down.”
No more book recommendations, politics, or amusing dog pictures for the immediate future. I’m shutting down.

Last month, actor Bryan Cranston said he “would definitely move” if Trump was elected. He said he would consider a “permanent vacation” to Vancouver.
Comedian Chelsea Handler said in May that she already bought a house in another country “just in case” Trump were to win. “I will actually leave the country,” she pledged.
