FLASHBACK: Trump Wins “Ellis Island” Award For Community Service Service

The liberal media has a convenient case of amnesia when it comes to anything good that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has done — they are instead quick to jump on the bandwagon of Trump bashers.

Donald Trump was only labeled a racist after he decided to run for president, for example. Before that, he was well known in the community as someone who was an ally to minorities.

So much so, that he was presented with an award for his service.

Before he was a threat to Hillary Clinton, the media did report on Trump’s accomplishments within minority communities. In 1986, Trump joined other prominent Americans such as Rosa Parks and Muhammad Ali as recipients of an “Ellis Island Award.”

How “racist” does this photo look to you?

On Oct. 27, 1986, Trump received the award — along with 79 other individuals from 42 ethnic groups who also received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor from the Statue of Liberty – Ellis Island Foundation.

As reported by The New York Times, those 80 recipients were selected from more than 15,000 nominations. They were prominent individuals as well as relatively unknown citizens who were personally screened by the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations, which was selected for the work by the Ellis Island Foundation.

NECO provided its reasoning behind the awards on its website, The Times reported, saying “The ELLIS ISLAND MEDALS OF HONOR are awarded annually to a group of distinguished American citizens who exemplify a life dedicated to community service. These are individuals who preserve and celebrate the history, traditions and values of their ancestry while exemplifying the values of the American way of life, and who are dedicated to creating a better world for us all.”

In addition to the mission statement, the website also listed its award recipient criteria — which, according to them, Trump exemplified — including integrity, passion, gravitas, humanitarian and ethnic heritage.

One might also note that there was one very famous individual completely absent from the list of award recipients. We don’t want to give anything away … but her name rhymes with Shmillery Plinton.
