First lady Melania Trump sparkled Tuesday night as her husband gave an address to a joint session of Congress.
“You don’t usually see sequins in Congress,” noted Carly Mallenbaum of USA TODAY.
“But first lady Melania Trump sparkled Tuesday night in a belted black dress and jacket combo, embellished with flower designs. She wore the most glamorous suit we’ve ever seen during President Trump’s first address to joint session of Congress. And she made quite the entrance in it,” Mallenbaum added.
The sequined outfit, which cost $10,000, was featured in designer Michael Kors’ Spring 2017 show.
Twitter was torn between those who enjoyed the first lady’s bold fashion statement and those who had something snide to share.

The first lady’s black outfit emerged in stark contrast to the outfits worn by Congressional Democrats.

“We wear white to unite against any attempts by the Trump administration to roll back the incredible progress women have made in the last century,” said Florida Democratic Rep. Lois Frankel.
