Feds Seize Nearly 7 Million Dollars Worth of Meth at The Border

Quick, pull up an image of a threat sneaking across our still-vulnerable southern border.

You’re probably not thinking of a baggie of white stuff, but that’s exactly what our ever-sharp border agents found during Christmas week. And the bust was massive.

In one week alone, reported Breitbart, Texas border officials confiscated nearly $7 million in methamphetamine destined for the United States.

On Dec. 20, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley stopped a woman driving a 2006 Chevy Tahoe crossing from Mexico. The driver, a 26-year-old U.S. citizen from Kansas City, Missouri, failed to stop at the primary inspection station.

Officers quickly stopped her and escorted her to the inspection station.

The trusty K-9 officers on duty sniffed out a potential problem and the vehicle was scanned, revealing hidden bags of methamphetamine weighing 129 pounds, valued by officials at an estimated $2.5 million.

Two days later, officers at the World Trade Center International Bridge in Laredo made an even bigger bust, The Coastal Bend Chronicle reported.

A 2004 Chevy Suburban came through the inspection station and was directed to a secondary inspection station. After the K-9 officers alerted the human officers to the possible presence of drugs in the vehicle, the agents discovered that the fiberglass pots the driver was transporting were packed with methamphetamine valued at over $4 million.

The suspect? Also a U.S. citizen.

“Our officers are always vigilant and prepared to respond to these type of situations. They are our nation’s front line,” Port Director Efrain Solis Jr. told Fox News. “This interception prevented a significant quantity of hard narcotics from entering our country and negatively impacting our nation.”

Not all threats arrive by swimming a river or climbing a wall. Some of the deadliest just drive right through. So next time you or I, as U.S. citizens, complain about being held up for a while at border crossings, remember that there are very brave men, women and dogs putting their lives on the line to catch deadly threats to our society.
