Italian fashion designer Stefano Gabbana is proud first lady Melania Trump is donning his company’s wears to the point of telling one liberal detractor to “go to hell.”
The 54-year-old posted an image of the first lady wearing a Dolce & Gabbana blazer for her official White House portrait writing “Beautiful” in the caption and thanking her.
Commenters, both positive and negative, weighed in including @_boyafraid who wrote, “So you have lost a follower, and worst, an admirer.”
Gabbana responded by saying, “@_boyafraid_ i don’t care!! Really.”
”Really?” the follower asked, and Stefano wrote back, “@_boyafraid_Really.”
Another former fan, @mademoiselle.myriam, wrote, “The LGBT community have been fighting so hard against these people for their rights. How can you. Unfollow, boycott.”
The commenter followed up asking him to speak in English, only to get the response: “@mademoiselle.myriam no!! Im italian.”
Gabbana also cheered when first daughter Ivanka Trump was spotted in a D&G black gown in February.
As reported by Western Journalism, some high profile designers, including Sophie Theallet and Tom Ford, have refused to dress Melania Trump due to disagreements with her husband’s policies.
Theallet, who dressed former first lady Michelle Obama, made perhaps the most pronounced protest, calling for a fashion boycott of Mrs. Trump shortly after November’s election.
Fashion mogul Tommy Hilfiger defended the then soon-to-be first lady saying, “I think Melania is a very beautiful woman and I think any designer should be proud to dress her.”
