The hit TV show “Duck Dynasty” stunned millions of Americans on Wednesday when the Robertson family announced that this season would be the show’s last.
“After five years, 130 episodes and one of the biggest hits in the history of cable, the Robertson family and A&E jointly decided that ‘Duck Dynasty,’ the series, will come to an end after this season,” A&E announced in a statement that was released along with the video.
‘Duck Dynasty‘ was a massive hit when it came out in 2012. The show followed the Robertson family, a Louisiana family that ran a very successful duck-calling business.
The show was very popular among conservatives, thanks to its pro-America and pro-God message. However, despite its popularity, the show’s viewership has declined rapidly over the past few years.
In 2013 the show was at its peak, with over 10 million people viewing each episode. Recently, the show is only drawing around 1.5 million viewers per episode, which was probably one of the deciding factors in the decision to stop.
The Robertson family made news over the past year outside of their TV exploits by getting heavily involved in the presidential race. The family was somewhat divided on who they supported, but ultimately they just wanted someone who would be good for America.
The finale of the show will be on April 12, though A&E explained that there would be a few “holiday specials” that would be rolled out afterwards.
Whatever the future holds for the family, we are confident that they will continue to do good things and will continue to pray for the future of this country.
