Actor Denzel Washington criticized the mainstream media, claiming they have become more interested in being the first to report something than in actually reporting the truth.
“If you don’t read the newspaper, you’re uninformed; if you do read it, you’re misinformed,” Washington said at the premier of his upcoming film, “Fences.”
“So what a responsibility you all have — to tell the truth,” the director told a group of reporters.
“In our society, now it’s just first — who cares, get it out there. We don’t care who it hurts. We don’t care who we destroy. We don’t care if it’s true. Just say it, sell it. Anything you practice you’ll get good at — including BS,” he said, echoing what practically every conservative has thought for decades.
Earlier in the year, Washington, a supporter of Hillary Clinton, was featured in such a “BS” story when it was reported that he supported eventual President-elect Donald Trump, Fox News reported. Obviously that didn’t sit too well with the actor, who had no problem criticizing the media.
The need to be first is a symptom of being bombarded with too much information, Washington said, and the media’s ultimate responsibility is to stick to the truth, Newsmax reported.
Washington’s right about this. The mainstream media has attempted to destroy alternative news sites, like Conservative Tribune, by claiming they are “fake news.” What they don’t get is that most thinking people are becoming more and more aware of the liberal media’s tactics and the fact that they have become little more than liars — and not very good ones — in their attempts to gain ratings.
They seem to have have abandoned the truth in order to survive, and the public knows it.
Washington challenging the liberal media is big because it indicates a fracture in the relationship the media have with celebrities.
