Democrats and the mainstream media have been relentless with their accusations that Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, President-elect Trump’s choice for attorney general, is a racist.
It’s no surprise they are attempting to smear Sessions, but what is so fascinating about this accusation is the fact that Sessions actually has a record of supporting desegregation in schools as well as taking on the Ku Klux Klan in Alabama.
As a U.S. attorney in the early 1980s, Sessions filed several cases to desegregate schools in Alabama, according to the Washington Times.
He also prosecuted Klansman Henry Francis Hays, son of Alabama Klan leader Bennie Hays, for the abduction and murder of Michael Donald, a black teenager. He even insisted on the death penalty for Hays.
When Sessions was elected Alabama’s attorney general, he followed through with this case and ensured Hays was executed. Hays’ prosecution led to a $7 million civil judgment against the Klan, effectively dismantling the KKK in Alabama.
Sessions was also one of the few Republican senators to support Eric Holder’s nomination for attorney general.
He has fought for civil rights, and has done more to protect jobs and increase the wages of black workers “than anyone in either house of Congress over the last 10 years,” U.S. Civil Rights Commissioner Peter Kirsanow Kirsanow told Breitbart.
The left is reaching with its allegations of racism. If they care about their survival post-Hillary, they should be careful, as they have already exposed themselves as being unfair and biased. The public is aware of how they manipulate facts to suit their own agenda, and is growing weary of their constant attacks.
It would be no surprise to see Democrats attack every single appointment Trump makes, and attack them with the same fervor in which they have attacked Sessions.
