A pregnant waitress in Phoenix, Arizona, recently received an unexpected Christmas gift from strangers who left a sizable tip after she served them.
Sarah Clark, a server at the Pita Jungle, was given a $900 tip from a couple who were reportedly looking for a way to pay it forward during the holiday season, according to KPNX.
It was the week before Christmas, and the money couldn’t have come at a better time. Clark is nine months pregnant and due to give birth any day now, while her fiancé was scheduled to to have knee surgery on Thursday.
The couple’s tab was only $61.30, which made the extra $900 a 1,468 percent tip.
They also left a heartwarming note on the receipt, which said, “This is God’s money — he gave it to us so we could give it to you. God Bless.”
And a blessing it certainly was for Clark and her growing family.
“You always hear about these [things] happening, but you never expect to be the recipient of it,” the grateful waitress told KPHO. “It’s a huge, huge help for me and my family.”
“I couldn’t have asked for anything more right now,” she continued. “It’s going to help with bills, with rent, with being able to stay home and spend some more time with my baby.”
Clark’s daughter, Rosalie, is due on Jan. 8, 2017, according to KREM.
It’s wonderful to see such generosity and kindness, especially at such a time of year when then commercialization of the season can sometimes overshadow what’s really important.
Giving something to someone deserving or in need, as this couple did for Clark, can often be better than receiving a gift of your own.
