CNN’s Don Lemon: Chicago Torture Wasn’t ‘Evil’ – ‘They Had Bad Home Training’

Social media users had a bone to pick with CNN’s Don Lemon after he made an offhand remark involving Wednesday’s news of a mentally handicapped white man being tortured by four black Chicagoans.

Appearing as a guest on CNN Tonight, The Daily Caller’s Matt Lewis said the acts committed by those four individuals were evil.

“At the end of the day, you just try to wrap your head around evil,” Lewis said. “That’s what this is: It’s evil, it’s brutality, it’s man’s inhumanity to man.”

However, Lemon was hesitant to call the act evil, instead saying it was a result of bad parenting.

“I don’t think it’s evil,” said the CNN host, who is black. “I think these are young people and I think they had bad home training. I think that — when I say who is raising these people, I have no idea who is raising these young people.”

Many Twitter users were enraged that he was minimizing the problem.

Others suggested that if the races of the perpetrators and victim were reversed, Lemon wouldn’t have a problem calling it evil.

A few people decided to poke fun at Lemon’s New Year’s Eve antics — where he decided to chug tequila, get his ear pierced and complain about how awful 2016 was. The night ended when producers decided to cut off Lemon’s microphone.

Lemon has his own views of a double standard and is on record stating that unless “white people” realize that “black people, especially black men, are treated differently,” then “nothing is going to change.”
