Chip and Joanna Gaines, stars of the HGTV program “Fixer Upper,” have come under fire recently because of their Christian faith. The church they attend preaches the biblical truth that homosexuality is a sin — and the liberal media has decided to bash them for it in a move that showed why President-elect Donald Trump won the election.

The Daily Signal reported:

BuzzFeed printed the original story, headlined “Chip And Joanna Gaines’ Church Is Firmly Against Same-Sex Marriage.” From there it was picked up by Cosmopolitan, Us Weekly, and my favorite, Jezebel.

Now to be clear, the Gaineses aren’t even quoted in the original BuzzFeed story. We have no idea what they personally think about same-sex marriage. In fact, a spokesperson for the Antioch Community Church where the Gaineses attend, specifically tells BuzzFeed “she could not speak for Chip and Joanna Gaines on same-sex marriage.”

“Fixer Upper has fans of all stripes: Christians, feminists, and LGBT viewers have all found something to love in the Gaineses. So in the absence of a response from them or their representatives, it’s worth looking at the severe, unmoving position Seibert and Antioch take on same-sex marriage,” Kate Aurthur of BuzzFeed wrote.

So let me get this straight. In addition to the intolerant position taken in the BuzzFeed article in regard to Christianity, the church the Gaineses attends should be grilled because they’re on a television show?

Apparently, for liberals to enjoy a show about home renovation and decor, they need to know that the church the couple featured in the program attends doesn’t espouse a Biblical belief that is in contrast to their own beliefs?

The Daily Signal reported some important statistics:

According to Pew Research Center, as of 2016, 37 percent of adults in this country still oppose same-sex marriage, while 55 percent approve. That means over a third of Americans are still against same-sex marriage.

Meanwhile, among Christians, 54 percent thought that homosexuality should be accepted in society, per a 2014 Pew study—which means that up to 46 percent thought it shouldn’t be. Among Protestants, 44 percent believe that homosexuality should be discouraged in society.

The BuzzFeed article pointed out that the Gaineses haven’t featured a same-sex couple on their program. Yeah, about that… The Daily Signal reported:

After all, as Gallup pointed out in 2015, fewer than 4 percent of Americans identify as LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender).

In contrast, Americans tend to think a whopping 23 percent of the population is LGBT. That’s not shocking, given how much media and entertainment go out of their way to highlight such couples—but it does suggest it’s possible that the Gaineses haven’t been inundated with applications from same-sex couples.

If liberals don’t want to watch the show because the Gaineses may not share their values — since it doesn’t appear that they have commented themselves about it — that’s their choice, but it doesn’t seem all that “tolerant,” does it?

The Left whines that conservatives and Christians need to be tolerant but what they really mean is that anyone who doesn’t agree with them is intolerant.

Even if the Gaineses do believe the biblical truth that homosexuality is a sin, so what? As long as they aren’t calling to physically harm anyone, they shouldn’t have to sign off on someone’s lifestyle choices.

As the Daily Signal pointed out, the Left’s badgering of Christians because they think differently is concerning. It’s apparently not enough for same-sex marriage to be legal — they also need to bully people into personally accepting their lifestyle.

It’s one thing to disagree with someone’s opinions or beliefs, but it’s an entirely different thing to try and bully or shame people because they don’t see something the same way you do. That’s what the Left is doing to Christians in this country and it is disturbing.
