More than five years after Casey Anthony was acquitted on charges of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, a source close to Anthony has spoken up about his perception of the ordeal.

Rob Dick, the accused mother’s former bodyguard, worked for Anthony after she was released from jail in 2011 and recalled the whole time as “completely insane.”

One instance, in particular, convinced Dick that the woman he was protecting — a woman who had just been found not guilty — had murdered her own child.

During an episode of the podcast, “Allegedly with Theo Von & Matthew Cole Weiss,” the bodyguard recalled Anthony’s first night out of jail.

“When she gets out, I’m driving her, (lead attorney Jose) Baez, Leonard (Padilla), going back to the family to (her parents) Cindy and George,” Dick told podcast listeners, according to Independent Journal Review.

When they arrived at Anthony’s parents’ home, the situation became “surreal.”

“You know what should happen,” Dick said. “Here’s a mom in jail for the last 30 days, supposedly not knowing where her child is for 60 days now.”

“What do you think (the first question) would be?” he asked the podcast hosts, explaining that he thought it would be something about her case or her dead child, such as, “Have you heard anything?”

But, Dick explained, something much different happened, and Anthony’s first question wasn’t what he expected.

“She was just completely happy, excited to see her parents,” he explained, saying that Anthony asked, instead, “What’s for dinner? Jail food sucks.”

That was the moment when Dick said he knew the woman he was protecting had murdered her own child.

“There’s that moment right then that we’ve got a problem,” he explained. “It’s not about getting out and finding your child.”

Listen to the podcast here, with Dick discussing the Anthony case just after the 8-minute mark.

Much of the world believed — despite the prosecution’s inability to prove it — that Anthony was responsible for her daughter’s death, but this bodyguard’s unique perception of Anthony’s behavior after being acquitted will make it even more frustrating for some that she isn’t behind bars.
