The latest email dump by WikiLeaks, which has been releasing emails hacked from the account of Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, John Podesta, hinted that there might have been a mole at Fox News helping Clinton get town hall forum questions ahead of time.
Available for review at WikiLeaks, one email chain in particular was especially disturbing, as it was originally sent by Clinton’s director of communications hours before a Fox News-hosted Democrat primary forum in Detroit on March 7, 2016.
Included in the chain were these incriminating words: “Flagging that Bob B. heard that they could ask about carbon tax and late-term abortion restrictions. Solow and I are pulling debate book materials & running abortion answer by Jen & Rachel ahead of 3pm.”
According to a transcript of the debate accessible at Fox News, debate moderator Bret Baier did in fact question the candidates, Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, about abortion.
“I want to ask you about a question I asked Sen. Sanders,” he said. “Do you think a child should have any legal rights or protections before it’s born? Or do you think there should not be any restrictions on any abortions at any stage in a pregnancy?”
Coincidence or conspiracy?
It could very well be a coincidence, though frankly it seemed much more likely to be a conspiracy, since “Bob B.” sounded an awful lot like a reference to former Fox News host Bob Beckel.
Here’s the problem: Beckel has been absent from Fox News since February of 2015. Moreover, he was hired by CNN as a commentator in October of 2015, months before the email was sent.
Was it possible that, despite not working for the network in any official capacity, Beckel was still in close touch with other hosts and pundits? Or was “Bob B.” short for someone else? And if so, who?
These are questions that executives at Fox News might want to look into.
