Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Wednesday at a news conference that repealing President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act was a high priority for the new Congress and president who were elected on Tuesday.
“It’s pretty high on our agenda as you know,” McConnell said. “I would be shocked if we didn’t move forward and keep our commitment to the American people.”
The Kentucky Republican called Obamacare the “single worst piece of legislation” out of many awful pieces of legislation passed during Obama’s administration. He couldn’t be more right about that.

McDonnell didn’t say whether Senate Republicans would use a process known as budgetary reconciliation to repeal the law. He added that it wouldn’t be possible to repeal all of the health care law using budgetary reconciliation because that process only affects the spending, taxes or the deficit aspects of the ACA.
However, the majority leader said large parts of the law could be repealed under that process.
At least it’s a start, and this announcement came as good news to many Americans who have seen their premiums skyrocket under the president’s health care plan.
Individual Americans were not the only ones feeling the pain from the ACA. Insurers have left exchanges after losing millions of dollars last year. It’s so bad that exchanges in some states were down to just a single insurer, and some doctors have simply refused to participate in the plan.
President-elect Donald Trump made vowed to repeal Obama’s failed policy and replace it with something that would give Americans more choices at cheaper rates. Anything would be better than the constant increases we’ve seen over the past few years.
Let’s hope those in Washington get to work on repealing Obama’s failed monstrosity quickly — the sooner the better — and “replacing” it with something that looks very close to nothing, so that the free market can do its work.
