It’s not terribly surprising that the people responsible for the infamous post-election open where Kate McKinnon-as-Hillary Clinton sung Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” alone at a piano don’t like the Trump family.
However, when one writer for “Saturday Night Live” went after President Donald Trump’s 10-year-old son, even liberal NBC had to admit that was too far.
According to The Washington Post, “SNL” writer Katie Rich has been suspended indefinitely from the show after tweeting during Friday’s inauguration that first son Barron Trump “will be this country’s first homeschool shooter.”
I sincerely apologize for the insensitive tweet. I deeply regret my actions & offensive words. It was inexcusable & I’m so sorry.
— Katie Rich (@katiemaryrich) January 23, 2017
Rich made her account private, although she would later make a public apology tweet, which conspicuously did not apologize directly to the Trump family.
Rich’s tweet was so offensive that even Chelsea Clinton seemed to admonish Rich in a tweet, although she couldn’t help getting in a shot at President Trump.
Barron Trump deserves the chance every child does-to be a kid. Standing up for every kid also means opposing @POTUS policies that hurt kids.

Rich’s original tweet sparked condemnation around the Twittersphere, as well as charges of a double standard.

Sadly, this is not the first time that Barron has been a target of the left. Last November, leftist talk show host Rosie O’Donnell made news by re-tweeting a video that claimed that Barron Trump had autism. Rosie would pull a Rich and make her account private and then apologize.
This shouldn’t be surprising, though. The left believes that whatever the left does, it is not wrong. So, making fun of a 10-year-old kid is perfectly fine to them, just so long as it’s Donald Trump’s son.
Unfortunately for liberals, the sane majority of America doesn’t feel that way, as Katie Rich found out in a very public manner. We don’t know how long her “indefinite” suspension is, but we think it should be permanent. The fact that she maligned the president’s son in an appalling way is reason enough for her termination.
