An African-American Ohio politician has been named to head President-elect Donald Trump’s domestic issues transition team, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
Ken Blackwell, a Republican who’s served as Ohio’s secretary of state and treasurer as well as mayor of Cincinnati, was tipped to be the head of the domestic “action team,” which arguably makes him the most powerful of the men and women heading the transition.
Blackwell had initially been a supporter of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz during the nomination process, but supported Trump once he secured the nomination.
Under Blackwell’s purview during the transition will be the Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Labor, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture.
That means many of the appointees for Trump’s ambitious domestic agenda will be selected or influenced heavily by Blackwell.
Blackwell comes with pretty impressive conservative credentials. He’s on the boards of both the National Rifle Association and Club for Growth, as well as being a senior fellow at the Family Research Council.
He is also, much to the consternation of liberals who continue to make what happened Tuesday about race and gender, an African-American. That’s another huge poke in the eye to the liberal narrative.
In fact, Trump’s campaign was driven to victory by Kellyanne Conway, who — for those of you not sure of Western naming conventions — is a woman.
This was never pointed out by the press. Nor was the very salient fact — at least in the eyes of the left — that Hillary Clinton’s two most senior campaign managers (John Podesta and Robbie Mook) were white, cisgender males. Such privilege!
When you see one of the many protesters interviewed by the media giving the reason why they’re yelling inchoate anti-conservative rhetoric and carrying a badly scribbled Sharpie-scarred placard reading “NOT MY PRESIDENT,” and they say they fear minorities and women are going to suffer under a Trump presidency, you may want the media to remind them of the facts we’re presenting here.
