It didn’t take long after the Carrier deal was announced by President-elect Donald Trump for the union boss to come out and regale the liberal media with tales of how Trump lied and how his deal was horrible.
It also didn’t take the union boss long to get a bit of a reputation as a new favorite of the leftist media.
It also didn’t take long for Trump to destroy him with one piece of advice.
In a piece in The Washington Post, United Steelworkers 1999 President Chuck Jones, the man who heads the union that represents the workers at the Indianapolis, Indiana, Carrier plant in question, said that he had wanted Trump to explain at a Dec. 1 meeting how 550 of the Carrier jobs were still going to be axed.
“But he got up there,” Jones said, “and, for whatever reason, lied his a** off.”
“Trump and Pence, they pulled a dog and pony show on the numbers,” he added. “I almost threw up in my mouth.”
It’s worth pointing out that there is some controversy about how many jobs will be saved A CNN/Money report from earlier this week says that some of the jobs may be lost to automation. However, as Trump quickly pointed out, the grand total of jobs saved under Jones’ leadership? A big fat zero.
If United Steelworkers 1999 was any good, they would have kept those jobs in Indiana. Spend more time working-less time talking. Reduce dues

Well played, sir.
In fact, the one thing that’s outsourced more jobs and turned more companies toward automation than anything else is the influence of unions.
Yes, automation has cost us some manufacturing jobs. Yes, so has competition from overseas, some of it unfair.
What’s been the most painful for the American manufacturing industry, however, has been the mephitic effect that unions have had on industry.
The most obvious example is the auto industry, but it can be seen everywhere. It was undoubtedly part of the reason why Carrier was moving to Mexico.
How many jobs did Jones save? None. It remains to be seen how many will be saved by Mr. Trump. But even if it’s one, it will still be more than what was saved by the leadership of the United Steelworkers 1999, however.
