Wow, Joe. Tell us how you really feel.
Outgoing Vice President Joe Biden sat down Thursday for a sort of “exit interview” with Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC in which he stated, emphatically, his glowing opinion of Michelle Obama.
“And Michelle — I think Michelle is the finest first lady in history,” Biden said, according to a partial transcript of his comments from the Washington Free Beacon.
No wonder Hillary Clinton couldn’t get elected president. She can’t even make it to the top of Uncle Joe’s first ladies of history list.
“I mean in history,” Biden repeated. “There’s been wonderful first ladies. But, she is so smart. She is so, so decent, and she is so inclusive.”
Note that every word of praise for Obama amounted to a dig at the former secretary of state, whom Biden did not consider as “smart,” “decent” or “inclusive” as the current first lady, apparently.
“I mean, I can’t — looking at her, and the whole world looks at her and says, she conveys such a — she conveys America,” he said. “So, it’s been — I’m going on too much.”
Yes, Joe. Yes, you are. You sound like a 13-year-old with a crush.
“But, I really — I don’t like them, I love them, and it’s a mutual thing,” he added, even after realizing that he’d been “going on too much.” That must be some crush.
You can hear his comments here, and note how vigorously he makes his case for Obama:
Hillary Clinton was, of course, first lady during President Bill Clinton’s two terms. Biden’s failure even to acknowledge that, particularly after speaking in favor of her 2016 presidential candidacy, was telling.
Of course, what else should we expect? This is the same guy who said during the campaign that he was confident he could have beaten the former secretary of state had he run in 2016.
Nor was this his first dig at Clinton.
“If I don’t move, I’ll be demoted to secretary of state or something like that,” Biden said at a White House summit in 2015, when he was reportedly considering a run for the 2016 Democrat presidential nomination.
“That’s a joke,” Biden added moments later, pointing to reporters, according to the Free Beacon.
Of course it was.
Now, that last could certainly be interpreted as a dig at Secretary of State John Kerry, who is almost as worthy of mockery as Clinton herself. Call it a two-fer.
The point is, I generally think of Vice President Biden, with all due respect, as a little bit nuts.
Now I’m starting to think he’s crazy like a fox.
