Oh, Glenn Beck, we hardly recognize you anymore.
The conservative-leaning talk radio and TV host was one of the more vehemently outspoken members of the failed #NeverTrump movement during the 2016 election cycle, almost daily engaging in absurdly ridiculous insults of then-Republican nominee Donald Trump.
But after Election Day, Beck appeared to soften his stance, stating for the record that he would keep an open mind about Trump and proudly stand in defense of the president-elect.
But that lasted all of less than a week before it would seem that Beck stabbed Trump in the back by launching a vicious verbal assault on the man chosen to be Trump’s chief strategist, according to The Hill.
That man would be former Breitbart chief executive Steve Bannon, who left his website to serve a similar role on Trump’s presidential campaign, and it was overwhelmingly obvious that Beck has nothing nice to say about the man whatsoever, calling him a “nightmare.”
“You know, if people really want to — in the press — would like to call Donald Trump a racist, you might want to stop on that one and just spend a little time on Bannon,” Beck stated during his Monday program.
“Bannon has a clear tie to white nationalists — clear tie,” Beck continued. “He’s built Breitbart as a platform for the alt-right. He is on record saying that. He’s on record defining the alt-right. He knows what it is. He is a guy who wants to tear this system down and wants to replace it with a new system.”
“He’s a nightmare. And he’s the chief adviser to the president of the United States now,” Beck added. “He is a frightening — no, no, no, he is a terrifying man, terrifying man … It speaks volumes.”
Actually, what speaks volumes is Beck’s incessant attacks on Trump and those he has surrounded himself with, with nary a break save those short few days immediately following the election when Beck was probably so stunned he was unable to form coherent thoughts (although his ability to do that even now remains under question).
What Beck has just done is willingly join forces — again — with the incredibly dishonest mainstream media liberals who use every tactic in Saul Alinsky’s leftist playbook — a playbook Beck warned us about for years — to malign an opponent with unsubstantiated accusations designed to discredit people from whom the left would rather not hear.
Nobody can really offer any sort of substantial proof that Bannon is racist or anti-Semitic, and there have been plenty of friends and former colleagues — including Jews like David Horowitz, liberal attorney/professor Alan Dershowitz and “Clinton Cash” author Peter Schweitzer — who have staunchly repudiated the smears against Bannon.
Should concrete evidence emerge proving that Bannon really does hate Jews, then we would be remiss for not calling it out and demanding action be taken. Until such evidence is made clear, though, these attacks on him reek of little more than sour grapes and sordid efforts to essentially silence someone who has actually beaten the progressives at their own game.
