Suspected haters of President-elect Donald Trump allegedly torched a Florida-based Navy veteran’s home early Tuesday morning, leaving it an ashy and uninhabitable mess.
“The place was ransacked,” Plant City veteran Matthew Smith told Tampa station WFTS. “Clothes from my room, all the way to the back, just made it everywhere. Papers, important documents thrown everywhere, just torn up. The Christmas tree set up yesterday was knocked down and had been lit on fire. Every piece of furniture was pretty much burned through.”
The arsonists were strongly suspected to have been politically motivated, as they spray-painted the phrases “F*** Trump” and “not my prez” on Smith’s walls. Also included were the racist term “cracker” and a sickening message about the veteran’s children: “F*** yo kids.”
“We never had a sign in our backyard, so no one really knew we were pro-Trump,” she said, adding that her husband did however often share pro-Trump posts on his Facebook page.
Fortunately the Smith family was not present when the unhinged thugs ransacked their home. They were in fact spending the night with relatives when they suddenly received a call from a neighbor at around 3 a.m. Tuesday informing them that fire trucks were outside their home.
“Your heart kind of just sinks in your chest,” Smith said. “Definitely blessed to have not been here. It was pretty bad.”

Smith has since started a GoFundMe account and shared it via his Facebook page. The family reportedly has no insurance and their home is in foreclosure.
This was not the first time anti-Trump goons tried to burn down a home in the general area. According to the Tampa Bay Times, anti-Trump arsonists allegedly started a fire earlier this month at a home in Mango, a town about 15 miles away from Plant City.
“Written in black paint on the mobile home next door were ‘F*** Trump,’ ‘Burn everything’ and ‘BLM,’” the paper reported.
Apparently burning the homes of innocent Trump supporters has become the new it thing to do in Florida. How deplorable.
“It’s not what I expected out of America,” Smith concluded in his statements to WTVT. “It should be us figuring problems out together.”
