President Donald Trump has already begun to follow through on several of his campaign promises, and one of those promises included cracking down on illegal immigration.

Last week, the U.S.deported 90 immigrants to Somalia and two to Kenya, according to Voice of America News.

Somalia’s ambassador to the United States, Ahmed Isse Awad, told VOA that most of the immigrants had already received their final orders for deportation.

“Most of them are people whose asylum cases (were) denied through (the) legal immigration process, and others broke the U.S. law and had received final orders for removal from courts in the United States,” he said.

According to Xinhua News, a Kenyan official said that more than 90 Somalis and Kenyans arrived in Nairobi on Wednesday after being deported from the U.S.

Kenyan government spokesman Eric Kiraithe said 90 Somali men and two Kenyan women were on the plane, adding that he was unclear on why they had been deported.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website said that deportation can occur when an illegal immigrant has violated the immigration laws. An immigration judge can also order deportation without any punishment being imposed.

It appeared that Trump is not only following through on his campaign promises, he’s doing it at record speed. He has expressed an interest in reviving existing immigration laws that former President Barack Obama didn’t enforce during his tenure as president.

Before taking office, Trump also expressed an interest in revising or simply undoing some of Obama’s immigration policies, such as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals and Deferred Action for Parents of Americans.

This deportation could be a sign that the president isn’t messing around and is willing to take the steps needed to tackle illegal immigration.
