2 Years After Split, Dog Doesn’t Recognize Owner… Takes Quick Sniff and Chaos Ensues

A man was separated from his dog, which he had gotten as a pup, after he fell on hard times. The man, from Columbus, Wisconsin, had reportedly gotten a divorce, lost his home and had to live out of his vehicle.

Fearing that he could not properly care for his beloved dog, he gave him to a friend. The dog, named Chaos, was only supposed to spend three months with Jose’s friend, until Jose could get back on his feet. However, after that time passed, the “friend” made things very difficult for the two to reunited.

“Chaos helped me through so much in my life, I took him everywhere with me!” Jose stated, according to comments posted with the YouTube video of their reunion.

That just made it even more difficult when Chaos’ temporary owner denied requests from Jose to see the dog, of course, and Jose had felt that he truly lost his best friend.

“I didn’t think I would ever see my dog again,” Jose said.

Two years passed, and Jose had lost all hope. But then a woman in South Beloit found Chaos in her driveway and called Winnebago County Animal Services to pick him up. Around the same time, Jose reportedly was looking through emails and saw a microchip renewal notice and became heartbroken again, wondering what had happened to his dog.

That’s when the phone rang.

When Animal Services ran Chaos’ microchip in their system, Jose’s name came up. Thankfully he still had the same contact information and was overjoyed when he got a call informing him that his dog was waiting to be picked up.

“Choas?!” Jose recalled saying, admitting that he burst into tears. “I was speechless and I couldn’t stop smiling. I just couldn’t believe it.”

“I couldn’t get to the shelter fast enough,” he said. “I couldn’t wait for it to open so I could see Chaos! “

Check the emotional reunion in the video clip below. At first Chaos is shy and doesn’t understand what is happening, but with one sniff of Jose’s hand … Chaos erupts.

Chaos obviously could not contain his excitement. Jose was excited too, saying, “I haven’t been happier! This has taken a huge weight off of my shoulders and has made my entire week!”

“Thank you so much to all of your staff for all you do,” he added, referring to Animal Services. “I will always appreciate you!”

This is one of the reasons dogs are described as man’s best friend. This undying loyalty and unconditional love is something only dogs seem capable of.
